This yellow messenger bag shows the side of an ancient Ethiopian coin, dating back to the period of the monarchy of Menelik II, with the “Lion of Judah” (Moha Anbessa). The Lion of Judah is the symbol of the Jewish tribe of Judah and symbolizes the origins of the monarchy in Ethiopia with the legendary King Menelik I, son of the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon, who in turn was the son of King David of the lineage of Judah . The Ge'ez writing all around the lion says "Moha Anbessa Zeimnegede Yihuda" (Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah), a writing that precedes the titles of the Emperor.
